Moving between raw reality and psychological landscape, Papa Blue (2003) follows a daughter's intimate perspective as she witnesses and navigates her father's silent struggle with severe depression. The experimental short utilizes a distinct visual language, juxtaposing the stark weight of live-action documentary footage with surreal, animated sequences to give form to the invisible, heavy cloud of mental illness and its impact on a family.

A major milestone in my creative legacy, this poignant work earned widespread acclaim on the global stage at the Golden Horse, San Francisco, and Seattle International Film Festivals, among many others. Papa Blue served as the pivotal catalyst that seamlessly transitioned my practice into the cinematic world, sparking a rewarding thirteen-year career in independent documentary filmmaking.
