When a close friend lost her husband, her search for closure sparked a deeper question: how does the living world communicate with the dead? My debut documentary for National Geographic, Spirit Talk, weaves together two profound realities—a grieving widow seeking peace and a cancer patient facing his own final journey—against the backdrop of modern Taiwan's ancient spiritual rituals. By blending non-fiction footage with experimental animation, I wanted to map the unseen terrain of the soul.

This deeply personal project swept the international festival circuit and completely transformed my artistic path. Serving as a foundational milestone, it powerfully launched my thirteen-year legacy as an independent global documentary filmmaker.
